Meet Bee & Amar
Our story is rooted in generations of culture and migration. As with many Indians of our generation, it all begins with our grandparents, who moved from India to East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) during the time of the British Empire. Our parents were born in Africa and, following the end of British rule, made the long journey to London in the 1960s, where both of us were born.
Years later, we met in London, got married and eventually discovered the charm of Alicante, which we now proudly call home. Together, we’re bringing our family’s favorite dishes and our mothers’ treasured recipes to the Mercado Central, offering a fresh take on Indian street food.
At Masala Cantina, you’ll find more than the big, traditional curry dishes you may associate with Indian cuisine. Instead, we focus on street food and sharing plates—flavours that are designed to complement Spain’s rich tradition of casual, social dining. Our dishes are made to be enjoyed alongside Spanish wines, local beers, and refreshing cocktails, combining the best of both worlds.
Join us at Masala Cantina for an experience where East meets West, and savour Indian street food classics in one bite.
